February 20 It is that time again! The Sjogren's Greater Washington Area Walkabout is coming!!Hello again, This year, I have been invited to serve on the Committee for the Greater Washington Area Walkabout, and I am taking on the challenge. That means I'm bringing you with me. Like last year, my goal is to raise awareness about Sjogren's Syndrome, and raise funds. But this time, I'm going bigger. Currently, I'm recruiting for major sponsors. I will post the major sponsor information seperately. Even if you aren't able to become a company/major sponsor, please consider joining by spreading the word about Sjogren's and by giving what you can to help extend research and knowledge. Please visit my fundraising page at: http://www.firstgiving.com/ashalateef. You can even create your own page by either joining my team (Hat Diva and friends) or creating your own.
| More info to come... April 22 Thank you, thank you, thank you! Many thanks to all who encouraged and supported me. Many thanks to Mommy, Shanna, and Wynn for joining me this morning. Many thanks to to those of you who donated. (For those who called in or donated online, I don't know who you were, but thank you, too.)
Given the number of questions I have answered in the last month or so, I would say the goal of awareness-raising was met. According to the report this morning, the fundraising was also succesful: Asha: $415 Wynn: $75 additional We both got t-shirts! WalkAbout total: $17112 And we had fun: I'm going to post pictures to the site so you can see Next year, I'm planning to have a team name, t-shirts or a banner or something, a spirit song...so be prepared--you have a year to get ready. LOL April 21 See you in the morning!I am sure there will be signage at the Reston Town Center, but just in case, you can call me. Also, I understand that there is an amphitheater that might make a good meeting place. (Thanks Shanna) I will likely be at the registration table around 9ish. April 14 Stroll about, lolThe question has been asked: how long is the walk? Let me just point out that I am doing it, lol. It's basically a stroll around the mall, and if I remember correctly, the whole event--from registration to closing ceremony--is about an hour and a half. Hope to see you out there walking about!
